When I arrived Kegon Falls at 7:00, I could hardly see anything because it was very foggy.

But the fog was cleared up while I was going to another place.
So I could finally see the beautiful scenery 4 hour later.
It was alternating between being clear, being cloudy.
So I waited for the moment when the sunlight shined so that I could take beautiful pictures.

Oku-Nikko (mountainous region of Nikko) is well known for its beautiful autumn colors.
Kegon falls,Lake Chuzenji,Iroha Zaka winding road,Toshogu shrine are especially famous.
When I went there, the peak of autumn leaves has already passed,but the scenery was still very beautiful.

There are two observation deck.
The one is at the top(free of charge).

The other is at the bottom of the falls(accessible by a elevator,550yen per 1 adult).
I happened to see the rainbow, and the sound of falling water was owesome!
In the morning of sunny day,you can see rainbow,too.

There are many souvenir shops and open air stalls around waterfall.
You can buy local specialties and delicious foods.
I bought Gyoza croquette(dumpling is inside).

Access

BY BUS

Nikko station→ 40 minutes by Tobu Bus bound for Chuzenji Onsen→ Chuzenji Onsen bus stop→ 5 minutes walk
(About 3 hours from Tokyo station by train and bus)

BY CAR

1 hour from Utsunomiya I.C. of Tohoku Expressway.
Parking lot: about 300 yen.

Traffic jam will be heavy especially in Saturday,Sunday and holidays.
To avoid it,you should come here early in the morning.
